In partnership with TOHU, FACE proposes it members to come and participate in the International Market for Contemporary Circus (MICC) to take place on July 11-14 in the framework of the Montréal Complètement Cirque festival. The MICC consists of eight panel discussions, two showcases, speed-dating with artists, welcome cocktail and ‘lunch pro’, networking opportunities and much more.
FACE representative will facilitate a discussion on the making of large-scale performances on Tuesday, July 12 at Usine C: large-scale circus performances tend to disappear in the current landscape: The majority of creations do not involve large ensemble works but rather adopt more intimate forms. Is this due to the aesthetics research developed in recent decades? Are there issues related to lack of interest from artists? Or is it connected to today’s realities in terms of production (lack of resources) and touring (lack of opportunities)? Is this phenomenon observable in other sectors of the performing arts?
This discussion will initiate thought on existing large-scale circus forms thanks to the participation of three international directors sharing their experiences, but also their dreams and working methods.
Registration to the MICC is open cultural professionals, more information available here.
