On the occasion of the annual festival Hip Cirq, FACE and its member Le Plus Petit Cirque du Monde propose thematic discussions focusing on “International Collaboration with the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP)”.
During the first discussions, participants and guest speakers will explore examples of transcontinental partnerships and go through the different steps to establish meaningful partnerships, including in terms of processes, requirements, opportunities and funding. We will reflect on the motivations, joys and difficulties of cultural players when imagining and implementing “great international” projects: How they challenge their work practice? What skills it takes? What learnings can be shared?
The second session will focus on the artistic and intercultural dialogue foreseen in these partnerships: new artistic developments are encouraged and the projects stand at the intersection of very different art practices. Workshops, master classes, tours and co-creations are the occasion to multiply approaches but also formats of presentation to the audience. Many questions raise: How to contextualise the work presented to the audience? How to avoid an “exotic effect”? What are the best presentation formats for cross-cultural art works?
