Networking & Capacity Building

10/02/2019 - 13/02/2019
St James Cavalier, Valletta (Malta)

FACE coordinates the annual gathering of coordinators and secretary generals of European cultural organisations, also known as the Malta Group, to exchange on professional practices and improve work methods, efficiency and informal collaboration among peers.

Supported by Arts Council Malta and hosted by Fondazzjoni Kreattività at St James Cavalier since the launch of the initiative in 2011, this annual retreat provides a closed platform for the discussion of key challenges and opportunities relating to organisational structures and networks in the context of working in Europe.

Participants share skills, contacts and informal advice to support each other in what can be a challenging environment. Outcomes of the retreat are continued by way of email and informal meetings throughout the year. Participants of the Malta Group have been invited on the basis of being like-minded, individual cultural leaders, rather than representatives of the organisations they work for. The group is founded on concepts of mutual trust, respect and confidentiality.

On 12 February 2019, representatives from Trans Europe Halles, IETM, On The Move, NEMO and ELIA will present their respective networks to Maltese culture professionals on the occasion of an ACMLab session. The event will take place at Valletta Contemporary (VC) Gallery at 18.00 – access is free but registration is required. More information here.
