AAA (Access, Advocacy and Active Inclusion – Pathways to Increasing Diversity in the Arts and Culture Field) sought to enable the European arts and culture sector to change its practices towards migrant artists and cultural workers by promoting inclusive practices, equality and non-discrimination through organisational transformation. AAA achieved this by enhancing the quality of adult and lifelong learning education through the research and design of guidance materials and training and mentoring pathways for artists and cultural actors at local, national and transnational levels.
A series of study visits took place in Denmark, France and Finland, which informed the process of creating blueprints for prototyping learning materials, training modules, a mentoring programme and a digital guide for the inclusion of artists and cultural professionals with migration backgrounds. The design and prototyping of these outputs were developed through a creative design methodology that included in-depth evaluation, live testing both in person and online, and iterative redesign.
Together with IMMART and Globe Art Point, FACE improved its knowledge and skills for the benefit of its organisations and constituents. The project delivered a prototype of a transnational inclusion training module for cultural leaders and industry gatekeepers; a digital guide to support the inclusion of artists and cultural professionals with migration backgrounds as a learning tool to improve engagement by arts and culture organisations and practitioners with this underrepresented group; and a prototype mentoring programme for migrant artists.
