Mission

Established in 2014 as a non-profit association, FACE is a resource platform committed to the internationalisation of professional practices and innovative practice-based learning in the performing arts. FACE has been developing comprehensive training services and capacity-building programmes to empower artists and culture professionals, as well as cultural institutions and grassroots arts organisations.

Through the provision of workshops, mentoring programmes, mobility experiences, and other educational initiatives, FACE enhances the skills and capabilities of adult learners, including both employees and self-employed workers in the culture sector. These programmes are designed to foster continuous learning and professional development, ensuring that participants remain at the forefront of industry trends and best practices.

Moreover, the platform facilitates new educational and cultural partnerships across Europe, aiming to connect educators and experts with fresh perspectives and opportunities. FACE places a strong emphasis on supporting organisations in developing cooperation projects and organising learning experiences both within and outside Europe. By doing so, FACE contributes to the vibrancy and sustainability of the shared European cultural space, offering fresh ideas, perspectives, and training initiatives that improve working conditions and foster professional growth. The educational dimension of FACE's activities is central to its mission, ensuring that the performing arts sector remains dynamic, innovative, and well-equipped to meet future challenges.

The purpose of FACE is to contribute at a European and international level to:

  • The circulation of works, ideas and knowledge in the contemporary performing arts and in socially engaged artistic practices;
  • Promoting, advocating and informing on our artistic fields, while defending contemporary artistic creation as a vital element in the sustainable development of our societies;
  • Exchange information, tools and know-how, as well as share experiences of cultural professionals from all countries;
  • Promote dialogue between cultures and respect for cultural diversity;
  • Support the international mobility of culture professionals.

We work to enhance the quality, development and conditions of presentation for the contemporary performing arts. FACE works in a global context to organise professional exchanges, conferences, seminars, the artistic programming of physical or electronic publishing projects, workshops, training, lobbying and fundraising activities.
